Norway joined the London agreement

On 1 January 2015, the London agreement entered into force in Norway. This means that it is no longer necessary to translate European patents in order to validate the patents in Norway – it is only necessary to translate the claims into Norwegian. European patents issued in German or French must be supplied with an English or Norwegian translation of the description and any illustrations with text.

The London Agreement is a patent law agreement, which entered into force on 1 May 2008 and is aimed at reducing the translation costs of European patents granted under the European Patent Convention (EPC).
