Mikkel Roed Trier
Mikkel is interested in the strategic and commercial aspects of IP. His practice focuses on assisting clients of all sizes in achieving an optimum position in existing and new markets.
Mikkel works with patent drafting/prosecution, patent strategies, infringement/FTO and validity opinions, oppositions, litigation, and settlement negotiations in the fields of mechanics, medical devices, building and construction, fluid dynamics, HVAC, pumps and valves, wearable tech, robotics, and packaging.
Mikkel has assisted clients as a European Patent Attorney since 2005 and has managed AWA’s Mechanics Team in Copenhagen since 2010.

Mikkel has extensive experience as a technical judge, court-appointed expert, party expert, and litigation supporter in IP litigation before the Danish courts and is authorised to represent clients before the Unified Patent Court.
He is the President of the Danish Association of IP Advisors (ADIPA) and chairs the Patent Committee and other committees. He is also a board member and a member of the Patent Committee of AIPPI Denmark/FIR and the IP panel of the Danish Confederation of Industri (DI).
As an IAM Global Leader since 2022, Mikkel is listed in the IAM Patent 1000 and was awarded Managing IP’s Denmark Practitioner of the Year in 2023.
