The business domain is changing. Globalization, digitalization and pressure on higher returns from investments. These drivers challenge the classic perspectives on competition as well as innovation. We have seen a clear need to assess and manage knowledge. What knowledge is relevant to the business, how should it be packaged into revenue streams and how to build sufficient control around the knowledge to lead to higher competitiveness.

It is clear that IP does not create value on its own, the value comes from relevant IPR being deployed during a relevant company activity. One trend we are seeing is the shift from IP as a means to protect towards a means to control or enable interaction with actors in the business ecosystem.
